Wonderful Intercontinental Property

This hotel is perfectly located with a stylish design and very welcoming a knowledgeable staff. The restaurant’s patio BBQ and breakfast were tasty and well worth the money. The concierge was also extremely helpful when we needed reliable, last-minute transportation. I hope to stay here again someday, as this property exceeded expectations.

A great stay in Porto

We had a an excellent stay and loved the attention and friendliness of the staff. Concierge and check in staff went out of their ways to help. Mr. DIOGO VIEIRA Was very helpful and as well the concierge on duty.
Breakfast was lovely with great variety and food options. Coffee took a bit long to arrive but not a big deal. Thank you IC Porto!

Best hotel in the City

We spent four nights here, arriving late on the first night and having food in the bar.

The bar and bar staff are excellent and pricing is pretty good for a European city. Really cool look, really smart place. The Concierge Tiago is excellent and the sign of a great hotel is to have great staff and both Concierge and front of house staff are excellent.

Rooms are spacious and clean.

Only possible improvements are colder air-con, an executive lounge and a pool. Being picky, but there’s nothing that can be faulted with the current hotel and team.

Great place to stay, first visit in 10 years or so… next visit will be sooner.

Highly recommended.

Poorly trained staff

After checking out of IC Lisbon ( best customer service I’ve ever experienced), we drove straight towards IC Porto. Upon arrival, we were met with an extremely uptight trainee (Beatriz) check in agent. Never was acknowledged of diamond status, never smiled and greeted us. Booked three rooms to where only one room was given points. Took her quite a long time to figure out what needed to be done. Multiple employees came to her assistance just for a simple task of checking in. Unfortunately upon checking out, my friend from the second room had to encounter an even more unprofessional check out process. I avoided her at check out and went to another staff as well. To the point my friend had to raise her voice at her and requested to be checked out by another staff.

On a side note, we had to wait over 30 mins for two orders of fried eggs during breakfast. A few untrained staff again walking around not knowing what to do. Just walking around in circles.

I will definitely it recommend this IC property to my friends. Unless they truly train theirs staffs to the level of IC level.

construction right out front ruins the experience

This was a special and once in a lifetime trip for our 10 year wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday. It was ruined by having to stay in this hotel. I was embarrassed in front of my wife for booking this hotel. This hotel is almost uninhabitable.

This was the worst hotel stay I have had in hundreds of hotel stays in my life. The hotel website does not mention the incredibly loud and intrusive construction going on, right in front of the hotel. On top of the myriad issues the construction caused, there were other issues.

There was little to no air conditioning. The room was very warm, and we could not get the AC to turn on most of the time. When it did, it did not cool the room down at all. A maintenance person explained something about how the outside temperature was overwhelming the ability of the AC to cool the rooms. All I know is the room was hard to sleep in due to the temperature, and we did not get one night of good sleep during a 5 night stay.

The car traffic due to the construction right in front of the hotel makes taxi/Uber pickup and drop off dangerous and difficult.

The foot traffic due to the construction right in front of the hotel is overwhelming, and unsafe. There were hordes of people near the front entry of the building due to the construction.

Due to the construction in the front of the building we were told sometimes to exit in the back of the building to reach certain parts of the city. We'd walk through a maze of homeless and drug users in the back alley of the hotel. Very dangerous.

The room was not very clean.

Our safe broke with my passport locked inside! But it was fixed quickly.

The bathroom sink backed up due to a clog.

The shower stall had broken handles inside it. I could go on.

When I complained after our stay, they did not reply. When I followed up, 8 days later, they said a manager would contact me, and they added 20,000 points to my IHG account. According to NerdWallet's analysis, 20,000 IHG points are worth about $140. That is an offensive offer after they destroyed 6 days/5 nights of vacation. Those are important memories lost and ruined. This hotel should be closed until the construction is completed.

A manager did call me eventually, and left me a voicemail. At that point I was already back in the U.S. and a phone call would be diffcult, and I was too busy catching up on work to waste time on a phone call. I asked them to email me if they had any reply or solution, but I never heard back.

I am going to write off my 5 nights in Porto. Bottom line is DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE! I hear that may not be until 2025! If you want to enjoy Porto, and a have safe and quiet stay, pick another hotel.

Exceptional Stay and Experience!

I was very concerned about all the negative reviews about the construction and noise going on around the hotel, but booked it nevertheless. I was hoping I could manage through all the construction, as we were on our honeymoon looking for a nice hotel while traveling through Porto. All I can say is, don't let the negative reviews fool you. The hotel is situated in an amazing location. I don't know if it can be any more convenient, based on how the city is laid out. You're walking distance from the river, the bridges, the museums, the restaurants, the shops, etc. Every staff member we encountered were fabulous! Super helpful and friendly, going out of their way to assist. The hotel features a very nice and cozy bar/lounge and a wonderful dining facility which was brightly and airy. The concierge is always present and super helpful as well! Our one bedroom suite was beyond expectation, as it was spacious and homey at the same time. There was separated patio space should you need to relax in the patio area. The bathroom was clean and well designed as well. Even though we loved exploring the City, we also really enjoyed kicking our shoes off to relax at the hotel. The only area which needed slight improvement was the dining experience. The service was wonderful and amazing, however if the quality of food upped a notch or two, the stay would have been PERFECT! Not that it wasn't already. Thank you to all the staff for the AMAZING Experience!!!
