If you've some time to spare around Stansted and you're staying in the area, you might be tempted to take the short trip into central London for sightseeing or entertainment. There's a direct train service from the airport to London Liverpool Street that gets you there in about 45 minutes. There are also a number of direct buses and coaches.
However, you don't have to travel to London for something to do. There's plenty going on around Stansted itself. 20 miles North up the M11, you'll find the Imperial War Museum located at nearby Cambridge. Adults and children alike will enjoy this museum, which exhibits a number of aircraft and sea vessels used in warfare.
If you're fortunate enough to be around on a race day, Newmarket horse racing course is just 35 miles from the airport. It will take around 40 minutes to drive there from our Stansted hotels, straight up the M11.
For something even closer to the airport, explore Bishop's Stortford. It's less than 6 miles away and is a quaint and quintessentially English market town with lots of history.
