Exceptional Stay at Koh Samui- A Cut Above the Rest

I have stayed at numerous IHG properties around the world, but my recent visit to Koh Samui was so remarkable that I felt compelled to write my first ever review. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the Koh Samui IHG went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect.
The real test of their outstanding service came when an unexpected medical emergency occurred. My son had to be rushed to the emergency room in the middle of the night due to an illness. The staff were incredibly supportive during this stressful time, helping us arrange transportation and communicating with medical personnel. Their empathy and efficiency made a daunting situation much more manageable.
What touched us the most was the genuine concern shown by the staff. The following day, multiple team members inquired about my son’s well-being, which was very reassuring and heartwarming. It was clear they truly cared about their guests, not just as customers but as people.
The overall experience at Koh Samui IHG has been exceptional. We are already looking forward to our next visit. If you value a hotel that goes the extra mile, particularly when it counts the most, Koh Samui IHG should definitely be your next destination.

An extended visit for our 40th wedding anniversary. Staff were very welcoming and attentive the entire time, and always with a smile. My diamond elite status resulted in an upgrade which added extra sparkle. Location is beautiful, calm and restful, exactly what we wanted. Extensive choice at breakfast was a great start every day. Cocktails in the lounge every evening became a easy habit! A hotel shuttle gives the opportunity to visit shopping malls and other locations around the island. The weather foiled our anniversary dinner on the beach but plan B was implemented and we greatly appreciated everyone’s efforts to ensure it still went ahead, regardless of the rain! Sincere thanks to all. We dearly hope to return one day.

The week spent at this hotel was a wonderful family vacation. As a single parent, I wanted a vacation where I could relax and my daughters could have fun swimming in the pool and playing on the beach. This hotel exceeded my expectations. My daughters can’t wait to return!

Stayed for six nights in a Club Intercon room which was in a great location and had terrific views over the Gulf, loved the outdoor sofa on the balcony. Very comfortable bed and selection of pillow options, plenty of space for 3 people in the room. We pre-arranged airport transfer on arrival in the M Benz and this was excellent, great driver and nice way to arrive. Prior to our arrival we had received emails saying we would be checked in on arrival in the Club Intercontinental lounge - this did not occur so communications need to be checked here. (Platinum Elite member)
Air con in the room was very noisy in the night and seemed to keep cooling to a lower temperature than what we had it set at - maybe needs modernizing to allow ease of use and quieter operation. Be careful in the open bathroom when using the shower as the floor can become very slippery once you use soap, shampoo etc - otherwise great bathroom.
Door on the wardrobe was difficult to close at times - minor gripe but could be improved easily.
Staff in the Club Intercontinental Lounge, Amber restaurant, Flames and housekeeping were fabulous, so friendly, helpful and always a pleasure to interact with - well done! Any time you want to take the golf buggy to the beach, gym, restaurants etc the staff are very prompt and friendly, great service.
Food in Club Intercon, Flames and Amber was excellent - breakfast selection very wide and delicious, lunch and dinner also very good. Drinks at Air Bar very tasty and great presentation - beautiful spot.
Hotel is quite a drive from the airport but we loved the secluded location and escape from the bustle of other parts of the island, so peaceful. Spa is nice but when they advertise manicure and pedicure with OPI polish and then only have a small selection of colour choices and none are OPI polish this is disappointing - false advertising that could be easily updated on the hotel HandiGo app.
Gym was small but very well equipped and all equipment looked to be very new - perfect. Kayaks from the watersports centre were great fun for a paddle in the bay .
Sadly our departure transport was a little disappointing, we had pre-booked this and on the day prior to our departure asked Concierge if we could change the vehicle to the SUV (more luggage space), they confirmed this would be done - it was not so we ended up with the hotel van and not the SUV, disappointing of concierge to not make this simple change for us.
Check out was slow, luckily i had checked our account the night before but the lady on reception seemed to be dealing with multiple groups of guests at once and left us sitting awaiting processing of our bill for some time - luckily Ying from Club Intercontinental saw us waiting and came and finalised everything for us super quick - great work, thank you.
Would definitely recommend for 4+ days of relaxation and beach time. Hotel shuttle to other parts of the island is a great service, it is free and super convenient, not that we wanted to leave the resort! Khop khun ka Intercontinental Koh Samui, we hope to be back sometime.

Attitude from management level is really bad and want too listen and correct customer.
Staff in general very nice, but it doesn’t matter for me if the way management don’t act as the they say in all on emails and letters communicating with customer

The staff in bars, house keeping and restaurant are doing a great work.
I’m a diamond member, but have never in any stays in Intercontinental hotels or other brand’s hotels been treated with the same in the same way from the management level and I usually never need too.
But to not be able to upgrade and give a discount on xxxx for the stay even if you like me stayed 6 nights….. It’s become like no compensation at all,
If you are loyal and stay longer you get a little bit over xxx per day…
Up on check in you didn’t remember to inform me about no upgrade, later you inform me that you forgot and I was definitely under the impression that you informed me xxxx per day not stay.
It’s not about the money for me it’s about how you treat the loyal guests. The cost for discount 1500 each day for you is nothing compare to your charges.
Instead of just fix something you start talking about policies…..
I am on my way to check out can can not stay and argue about it need to leave, because already waiting for 20 min first bill no deduction at all…. So you don’t even care to try to have it right….
Second thing you send me two times before arrival email with offer to upgrade,…..personal offer you call it.
Feels very serious and I also already under my visit explained it for one fro the management team, she just talked about it goes to all and so on…..
No feedback, I just informed her because I wanted to share my experience….but no feedback so easy to give some feedback after…
Now I have lost my trust for I ntercontinetal ambassador program and especially your hotel
So easy to fix by just talk and give some extra attention for you, but you chose not too.

The overalls are excellent. The staff neglected to inform me of the $20 credit* for dining at the restaurant, which I was entitled to as a Dimond Ambassador.

During my Koh Samui trip I’ve stayed at both Kimpton Kitalay and Intercontinental Samui. Both are exceptional resorts don’t get me wrong but Intercontinental Samui has come on top in almost all aspects, especially the kind, welcoming and well trained staff. The view at the Air Bar and the lobby were amazing. The food at the Flames restaurant and Amber were reasonably priced and delicious. Overall it was one of the best resorts I have visited, you won’t regret coming here for your holiday.
