Clean convenient hotel but don’t expect great service

Overall a clean and convenient hotel, close proximity to Canton Fair and light traffic on the way there.

Room was great and up to par for a hotel that costs 3000rmb per night. Restaurant option ok, food wasn’t excellent but decent enough, did the steakhouse only.

Took the high speed rail from hk to GZ and asked the concierge to provide an S class ride, just because the station is a mess and I refuse to walk miles to find a taxi. Thought it would provide a better service, but ended up being asked to walk to stairs down the car park while lugging my luggage. After refusing I was asked to wait at the rideshare pick up area which is filled with people and extremely crowded and hot. Waited 20 minutes in scorching heat for the driver to pull up to the curb, with no sense of apologetic gestures. Upon arrival there was no one to help us with the luggage and driver didn’t even help us bring them in. Drove off immediately after we were dropped. Asked the hotel manager but there was no gesture to respond to our complaint. He asked the restaurant to offer a bottle of wine but we didn’t know until after we finished dinner :) so what’s the point
It was an S class so it wasn’t cheap, expected a lot more for a service like this. Kind of ruined the whole experience for us.

Again this is because I ordered the car service but everything else in the hotel was ok.

The place is a bit distanced from central Guangzhou but we drove to there so it’s alright. The Lobby’s really large and the front office team’s friendly. Complimentary parking’s also offered. The room’s spacious as well :)

Not up to the standards of an Intercontinental

The room has OK features, but some quirky designs. The hotel tried to be a contemporary one but fell short.

The AC was stuck in “heating” mode despite the controller showing “cooling” thus the room temperature was 25 Celsius when set to 19 Celsius during the night.

My eyes were full of tears the next morning, likely caused by the degassing from the carpet and furniture, made worse by the out of control AC.

First of all, let's talk about the advantages. The service attitude of the staff in the club lounge is very good and patient. If there is a problem, the problem will be solved as soon as possible. For example, when the freshly squeezed orange juice has not come out, the staff will say that could you use the bottled of orange juice, and the freshly squeezed orange juice may need to wait for a while. The breakfast is also great. There are shrimp dumplings and Shumai, which has a very Cantonese breakfast. You can also order omelets, beef brisket noodles etc. Then, let's talk about the disadvantages. The only drawback of this trip is that the service awareness of the reception staff is extremely poor. His indifference highlights his unprofessionalism and rudeness. He is indifferent throughout the whole process and does not look at me and only show me his side eyes. Even when I proposed that I need to sign the check-in form, he asked me what you need to sign. And he didn't identify my membership level and he didn’t give me the welcome drinks voucher. This is the first time I’m disappointed to stay in an intercontinental hotel brand. I hope the hotel management department can strengthen the training of employees. After all, the reception experience is the first impression of this hotel.
