Great stay at this fabulous hotel

My wife & I stayed in July & enjoyed a great 10 nights. The location is perfect - very close to everything and centre of action. We really liked the private beach area and also the seafood restaurant at the beach. The Club Lounge was outstanding & I would like to thank Sonia, Nisha & Uday for their great customer service. However, I would highlight Manana Beburielze from housekeeping for her outstanding service and friendliness to us as guests - a true ambassador for the hotel. The only area that needs improvement is that hotel is quite old and in certain areas needs some renovations/maintenance. I highly recommend and we will stay here when we visit next time.

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Intercontinental Malta. I booked this trip as a surprise for my husband’s birthday, and the Guest Relations team went above and beyond to make it special. They arranged a beautiful surprise in the room with stunning decorations and amenities, which made him feel over the moon! We enjoyed every part of our stay, from the relaxing pool and beach club to the excellent restaurants. The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure all our needs were met. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, offering a wide variety of high-quality options, including delicious local products, which we really appreciated. We highly recommend this hotel!

È vergognoso che un lettino aggiuntivo chiesto per mia figlia di 5 anni provochi ina reazione dovuta sicuramente agli acari al suo interno visto che dormendo nel letto con noi non ha più avuto nulla per i restanti giorni di soggiorno. Overall, a great experience with some downsides:
1. No toilet brush in any of the toilets - I don’t understand the reasoning behind this
2. The elevators have mechanical issues that cause a banging sound whenever they stop on any floor. The sound resonates throughout the floors, 24h a day
3. The Lubelli pizzeria seems to be a training ground for their waiters, which is fine by itself, but not really when you want to relax and have dinner. One of the waiters couldn’t understand me when I told him we wanted to order drinks after we had already eaten, he kept saying “you need to order food, not just drinks”, after I repeated multiple times that the empty plates proving food had been eaten were already taken away. Also, we were interrupted 2 times mid-chewing by the waiters asking whether the food was good.
4. In Lubelli and Waterbiscuit, there’s supposed to be an optional 1EUR fundraising line that you can choose to be added to your bill. In Lubelli, that seems to be a mandatory thing, since we were never asked, yet it was always added. I don’t mind paying for it, but it would’ve been nice to at least be able to confirm that I want to pay for that.
5. Beach working hours - the beach opens at 9:30 and supposedly closes at 6PM (you can come earlier, but it’s not really prepared or anything). Sunbeds from one section of the beach get removed at 5PM, while the other section gets removed at 6PM to make way for tables. The funny thing is, the staff at the beach usually starts taking the sunbeds away around 5PM already. The sun is still out at even 7PM, why would you ever remove them to make way for the tables?
6. While on the topic of sunbeds, there isn’t nearly enough for all the guests of the hotel, at both the beach, as well as the level 10 pool. Additionally, since they allow people from other hotels to take up the sunbeds for a price, that also makes it harder to get one. If it’s the hotel’s pool and beach, guests should have priority, or, they should have more sunbeds to accommodate everyone.
7. Housekeeping - they seem to go through rooms on their own schedule, with limited ability to have them come later or earlier. It happened multiple times that they didn’t get to our room while we were at breakfast or at the beach in the morning, so we had to either ask them to come back when we were at lunch (and face their side-eyes) or get out of the room while they make it up. I stayed at 3-star hotels in Greece, whenever you ask them, they’re like “No problem mister I come back later”

We enjoyed a 5 night stay at this property. My diamond ambassador status was recognised on arrival and as the room was not quite ready we were able to relax in the club room with a complimentary glass of Prosecco.
excellent club room with all day refreshments. Food in the club room was ok but could have been a bit better. Breakfast was nice with plenty of choice and the option to order some items fresh from the kitchen. The mini desserts at lunchtime were the highlight but it would be nice if these were available the evening too. Sandwiches at lunchtime were limited and having some fresh bread rolls available would have been nice. Evening food was ok but not often refreshed so was a bit lukewarm. Excellent bar choices and availability throughout the day is a nice option. The staff were also excellent, very friendly and attentive. Amit and Hazel and the waiting staff went above and beyond and are a credit to the hotel.
The room was comfortable but if facing the garden there is a strong waft of barbecue coming from the outside grill restaurant below in the evening. Also night time entertainment can be heard. We had a room near the lift and it was quite noisy at times. We sleep in ear plugs so weren't disturbed too much but be wary of this room location.
Pool area was good with plenty of sun beds and shades.
Hotel is in a busy part of town where the youngsters go to party although this can be avoided by the exiting at back entrance. Close to Spinola Bay and within easy walking distance of the local restaurants and shops.
Overall a very nice stay and we would definitely come again.

Amazing stay at this hotel, I will definitely stay again. Very professional and polite staff. Rita from reception, the guy from concierge, and all the staff from restaurant, also from spa, amazing job they do. I was pampered, I totally recommend this hotel.

Location is a plus, but all the well maintained and beautiful facilities make this hotel the perfect place to stay in Malta, staff is memorable, I was just checking around and hazle came to me asking me what cocktail I’d like to try today and then she came with very nice ones, that was so kind and professional. Very nice stay
