Duluth is a historic city in the northern part of Georgia, located in Gwinnett County. This Atlanta suburb has a population of nearly 30,000. In 2010, BusinessWeek named it the “Best Affordable Suburb in Georgia.” In its early days, Duluth was Cherokee territory, and it has grown rapidly over the years. The area gets quite a bit of precipitation and has four distinct seasons.
Duluth's top attraction is the Southeastern Railway Museum, with exhibits designed to help visitors learn about the history of locomotive transport. You can climb aboard an actual locomotive and explore the train, making this a great spot to visit with younger kids, as well. Enjoy the natural surroundings at Jones Bridge Park, which includes a beautiful river, overlook areas for photos and fishing areas. McDaniel Farm Park is another outdoor attraction, where you can walk through the paved trails and imagine what life used to be like on this former farm.
Duluth has several IHG properties within its city limits, making it easy to find a hotel that offers the amenities you want. Stay close to the mall and spend some time shopping, or opt for a property closer to a local park for a quiet and serene atmosphere. Visitors can also reserve rooms at all-suite IHG hotel properties, which feature amenities such as fully equipped kitchens and separate living areas.
Duluth is accessible through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, located about 40 miles away. It is the busiest airport in the world, so plan plenty of time to get through security lines.
