Columbus is the state capital of Ohio and is located in the central part of the state. It has over 850,000 residents, making it the 14th most populous city in the United States and the 3rd most populous state capital. Columbus also serves as the county seat of Franklin County. It was named for Christopher Columbus and founded in 1812. Money Magazine ranked Columbus as one of “The Best Big Cities” in 2016 and also referred to it as the best in the Midwest.
When you visit Columbus, there are a few must-see attractions. For shopping, Easton Town Center is a favorite. This open-air shopping center sits about 10 miles from the downtown area and includes shops like Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel and Coach. North Market is a public marketplace that has been around for over a century. Over 30 vendors sell fresh meat, flowers, baked goods, cheese and produce. On a pleasant day, explore Franklin Park Observatory and Botanical Gardens, where you'll see stunning greenery, flowers and lush landscaping.
