ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort Destination

Things to do

Shiraho Kanko Service

762-1 Shiraho, Ishigaki, 907-0242

Ishigaki, and the surrounding islands, are possibly one of Japan's best spots for diving and snorkeling. Make sure you bring a bathing suit and let yourself be enticed into the emerald green waters of the sea, and swim amongst fish and coral. One of the nicest spots, and close to the hotel for snorkeling, is Shiraho. The Resort Centre people will be happy to arrange for half day snorkel tours.

Anei Tourism

1 Misaki-cho, Ishigaki, Okinawa

Ishigaki is part of the Yaeyama archipelago, made up of several islands. Visit Iriomote island, a national park, for a tour in this sub-tropical environment. Or else go to Taketomi island for a trip that will take you back to the olden days of the Ryukyu kingdom. Anei Tourism offers a selection tours for the active, not-so-active, and not-active-at-all!

Ocean Build

1577-2 Arakawa, Ishigaki, Okinawa 9070024

The island of Ishigaki is surrounded by the sea and of course, countless possibilities for boat fishing. Whether a half-day fishing trip or something a little more advanced, we'll help you try to find what your looking for.

Kabira Marine Service

Kabira Marine Service, Kabira, Ishigaki, Okinawa

Kabira Bay has been awarded a 3 star status in Michelin's "The Green Guide to Japan" and it's well worth taking the time to go. It's THE scenic spot of Ishigaki. A 40 car ride from the hotel, you may take a ride on a glass-bottom boat from Kabira Marine Service, or simply go to enjoy the scenery. Our suggestion: best go after 11:00 am in order to avoid the sun's glare on the water.

Miyara River

216 Miyara, Ishigaki, Okinawa 9070243

The Miyara River is bordered by mangroves. You may want to go on a canoe tour to explore this unsual environment where sea meets river. Come to the Resort Center where we can help you make reservations at one of the local tour agents.

Tamatorizaki Observatory

Ishigaki, Okinawa

An observatory overlooking the blue waters of Ishigaki. For a great view, better go in the afternoon on a sunny day when you have the sun behind you.

Uganzaki Light House

Ishigaki, Okinawa

Uganzaki is on the west side of Ishigaki and is one of the best spots to enjoy a sunset. If you can't be there for a sunset, we recommend you go just to see the sight: cliff hanging over waves! A detour worth the time is you're driving around the island.

Taketomi Island (Taketomi-jima)

Taketomi Island (Taketomi-jima in Japanese) is a 12 minute ferry ride from Ishigaki port. The houses and roads in the village, situated in the middle of the island, remain as they were 100 years ago or more. A cultural trip back in the days of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The Resort Center can arrange for a half a day trip there, and you might want to extend it for the whole day! And you can have lunch at one of the several small local (very local !) restaurants.
